to empower and liberate you

hi, My name is Effie

My path into therapy began through dance and somatic healing. With the experience of being both a survivor and a lifelong mover, I learned early on that the body holds our stories—and that returning to it with compassion and utilizing practices to discharge and integrate embodied experiences of both pain, and resilience, can open the door to profound healing. This led me to train in somatic trauma work, embodiment, Relational Somatic Healing, and ultimately pursue my Master’s in Marriage & Family Therapy.

I specialize in supporting individuals, teens, families, and couples navigating trauma, attachment wounds, and transitions. My work blends somatic therapy, relational attunement, and a trauma-informed approach to help clients reconnect with their inner wisdom and create more safety and authenticity in their lives.

MORE ABOUT ME

WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN WHEN WE SLOW DOwn AND BEGIN TO LISTEN TO THE BODY ?

From the moment we were born, we have experienced life within the boundaries of our body. Every experience we know and have been through has happened through the body. If we can acknowledge this, then we can consider the idea that our body is a historical record keeper of all the life we have lived so far. How amazing! Here, within our own being, lies all the experiences we have had and all the ones we will eventually live. This also means we do not need to seek the answers to our healing outside of ourselves. It is all here…

IN THIS BODY

This is how and why the practice of Somatics turns to the body to explore our individual and collective potential and capacity for healing. We do not need to remember every detail of the past. Many core wounds happened before we could even logically comprehend or verbalize what had just happened. This is why accessing the body is such a powerful way to heal—in the present, as well as from the past. The body does not need you to explain; it simply requires that you feel.

To feel, though, is no easy task. For many of us, it is the bravest thing we could do. To not intellectualize the pain or minimize it through reason, but to truly feel the discomfort and hurt that we have skillfully and intelligently made a little more silent, a little more bearable. Even suggesting this might have brought up some resistance—but if you can notice that and stay curious, rather than shut down or push away,

this is where the healing work begins.

I am here to be with you as you start to open up to your pain and discomfort with compassionate curiosity. I am here to support you as you begin to acknowledge the resistance, the shame, and the fear. I am here to help co-create the sense of safety necessary to finally feel what you may have been numbing or have forgotten for a long time.
